Redefining Safer Airmanship in Aviation

Mx2Fly has embodied the Total Airman Concept- merging pilot and technician skills into one. Our Airmen are highly trained to respond to any of your aircraft needs by flying out to your location, fixing it or providing maintenance and delivering it airworthy to where you need it most.
AMTs Retiring Faster than Replacing

Mx2Fly holds a tradition of honoring aviation pioneers, pilots and technicians, alike. Where would we be without Chuck Taylor supporting the Wright Brothers’ effort and the first-manned flight. They have led generations of aviation enthusiasts be able to break past barriers and we must continue their aviation spirit, with a lot of help.
The Aviation Technician Education Council (ATEC) has compiled information about Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) mechanic certificate holders, the educational institutions that prepare the majority of those individuals for careers in aviation maintenance, and the companies that employ maintenance professionals.
The report finds that Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (AMTs) are retiring faster than they are being replaced. New AMTs make up two percent of the population annually, while 30 percent of the workforce is at or near retirement age. The report says the aviation industry must increase its focus on retaining A&P candidates. Twenty percent of candidates pursue careers outside of the industry and only 60 percent elect to take the FAA mechanic certification test.

While the percentage of female A&Ps is increasing, it remains low, at less than three percent. The ATEC report says this presents an opportunity to help address a looming shortage. ATEC’s report says schools have the capacity to double production of A&P candidates. While institutions are ramping up recruitment activities and expect enrollment to increase, there is significant opportunity for industry employers to help define career paths and attract more students into the pipeline.
Mx2Fly is a pipeline for these new AMTs to augment their schooling experience into hands-on work. Not only does Mx2Fly target their mechanics skills, we also hone in those who want to fly what they fix. Our two-fold mission for aircraft recovery addresses many deficiencies industry wide and plan on continuing Chuck Taylor’s and the Wright Brothers zest for aviation.
